Universal Pictures is producing a new musical film titled Monster Mash, which is based on the classic 1962 song of the same name from Bobby "Boris" Pickett. The film will be directed by Matt Stawski, who pitched his own original treatment to the studio. They obviously liked it!
Matt Stawski is a music video director and Monster Mash will be his first feature-length film. In 2010 Stawski earned a Grammy nomination for CeeLo Green's "Fuck You" music video. Black List writer Will Widger will write the script.
As of right now, there are are no story details that have been revealed, but this film will be added onto the list of other monster movies that the studio is developing. On top of the upcoming film The Invisible Man, they are also working on Paul Feig's Dark Army and Elizabeth Banks' The Invisible Woman.
I included the Monster Mash song for you to listen to below. I have to say, I love the facial expressions that Bobby "Boris" Pickett makes while he sings this song.
