The O.C: 10 People Seth Should Have Been With (Other Than Summer)

From the moment that fans meet Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) on The O.C., it's clear that he has eyes for one person only: Summer Roberts. Played by Rachel Bilson, Summer is fashion-forward, has a heart of gold, and is bubbly and fun to be around.

It makes sense for Seth and Summer to be together because they're super adorable. They go through a lot, and when they have fights or don't seem to know how to communicate, it makes sense because they're still so young and innocent. But if they had broken up and stayed that way, who else could Seth have dated? Here are 10 people on The O.C. who Seth could have been with if it didn't work with Summer.

10 Anna Stern

A solid teen drama gives fans at least one love triangle, and the one with Summer, Anna Stern (Samaire Armstrong), and Seth is pretty great. But if Seth wasn't too busy waffling about his feelings for Summer, it seems like he and Anna could have made it through.

Anna is quirky and different, just like Seth, and since she's new in town, she doesn't have ties to the rich kids in the area or opinions about Seth like they do. Peeling away all Seth's feelings for Summer, and he and Anna seem like a healthy match.

9 Kim

Kim is a character on The O.C. played by Kat Graham (who fans recognize as Bonnie on The Vampire Diaries). Kim and Jess (Nikki Griffin) are friends. The gang meets Jess in Season 2 when she's in a relationship with Ryan's brother Trey (Logan Marshall-Green). Jess ultimately wants to be with Ryan, but of course, Ryan isn't interested as she's not a good person.

All fans know about Kim is that she phones Ryan because she's at a party that is going very badly. But what if she had stuck around on the show? Based on her actions in this scene, it seems like Kim has a good head on her shoulders, and she and Seth could see if they have anything in common.

8 Marissa Cooper

Marissa Cooper and Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie) might be a famous couple on the teen drama, but even their biggest fans have to admit that their romance has had some unhealthy moments. Maybe Marissa and Seth would have done a lot better as a couple, making her a potential match for the nerdy, lovable character.

For one thing, Marissa and Seth share a love of the book On The Road, so they're both intelligent bookworms who could bond over that. Marissa needs someone who can look beyond her rich girl attitude and see the real her; it seems like since Seth is so kind-hearted, he would be up to the challenge.

7 Alex Kelly

Alex Kelly (Olivia Wilde) and Seth date, but only for a brief period of time as she starts a relationship with Marissa.

Without Summer, would Alex and Seth have stayed together? It seems possible as they're both witty, clever, and don't take society's expectations at face value. They're both on the outside of the cool kids in Orange County. While Summer and Seth love one another, Summer is a popular, cool kid, so she and Seth don't exactly have that in common.

6 Theresa Diaz

Theresa Diaz (Navi Rawat) and Ryan grew up together and have been friends since they were little. They've also dated at various times in their lives, but things have always been needlessly complicated between them.

Theresa is a nice, mature person, and she and Seth could easily fall in love. She could stay in Newport, build a better life for herself, and have a stable relationship too. She clearly has too much baggage back home.

5 Sadie Campbell

Sadie Campbell (Nikki Reed) is another love interest of Ryan's, and this just proves that Seth deserves just as many romances as Ryan does. Seth is definitely a catch.

Sadie seems like a pretty normal person, which is pretty out of character for anyone in Newport, and exactly what Seth needs. Thankfully, she's not from the area, which is good news since Seth has never fit in with anyone from there, despite the fact that he does come from money.

4 Kate

Yup, Paris Hilton appeared in a Season 1 episode of The O.C.. Seth was definitely surprised when Kate, a rich girl from a different background than him, started flirting with him.

Sure, Summer wasn't pleased, especially when Kate declared Orange County gross and said "ew" (which was hilarious since that is Summer's infamous tagline). What if Kate had stuck around, and she and Seth had explored whether they had anything in common? It's definitely worth thinking about.

3 A Salesgirl At The Mall Played By Amber Heard

Okay, so Amber Heard's character on The O.C. wasn't actually given a name as she wasn't only the show very long. But let's imagine that she and Seth had started flirting and chatting, and that she had become a bigger part of the teen drama.

It's possible that Seth would have welcomed the chance to date someone who didn't go to his stuffy, pretentious high school or who didn't know anything about him. They could have started their romance in the Season 2 episode "The Mallpisode" when the four main characters are at the mall.

2 Kaitlin Cooper

Kaitlin Cooper (Willa Holland) is Marissa's younger sister, but by the time she's an adult and everyone has moved on from high school, it would be totally fine for Kaitlin and Seth to start dating.

She has always been incredibly wise and mature, and she honestly seems more like Marissa's older sibling instead of the other way around. She's always got a clever comeback ready, much like Seth, and it's easy to see these two getting along swimmingly.

1 Taylor Townsend

Taylor Townsend (Autumn Reeser) doesn't win any popularity awards at the beginning of the series, but by the end, she's proven herself to be someone who has a lot of similar traits to Seth Cohen.

Both Taylor and Seth are smart, try to keep their spirits up, and aren't like the others in Newport. If Seth isn't going to be with Summer, who many fans consider to be his one true love and also his soulmate, then it's good for him to be with someone who is a lot like him. Seth and Taylor could be super happy together.
