Game of Thrones Actors Reunite To Play Dungeons & Dragons For Charity

Several actors from Game of Thrones will reunite to live-stream a round of Dungeons & Dragons. The game will be one of three played next weekend to raise money for charity.

Game of Thrones first premiered in April 2011 before coming to a shocking conclusion in May 2019. The show featured a wide range of characters portrayed by many actors throughout its 8 season run. Many became die-hard fans of the show as well as these characters, and upon the show's end, they still wanted more content with their favorites. Some of the actors have gone on to work in other projects, while others have become influences such as Sophie Turner, who portrayed the eldest Stark daughter on the show.

Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed that on June 20, Daniel Portman (Podrick), Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy), Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton), Natalia Tena (Osha), and Kristian Nairn (Hodor) would reunite for D&D Live 2020: Roll w/ Advantage. Their quest is one of three that will be played over the weekend from June 18-20 to raise money for Red Nose Day, a charity aiming to help end child poverty. One of the game developers for Dungeons & Dragons, Kate Welch, will serve as Dungeon Master and has designed an adventure that sees the cast members receive a strange quest from a mysterious creature.

The actors/actresses, while maybe on opposing sides in the show, will team up as heroes in a quest that is likely to be extraordinary. While the cast members may be returning to the genre, they will not be portraying the same characters they did in HBO's adaptation of George R.R. Martin's books. In a promo video for the event, the actors teased what their characters in the quest might look like, with Rheon eluding to the fact that he would be quite the opposite of his character on the show.

For fans of Game of Thrones, this event may be a must-see. This is the first time that cast members, especially these actors, in particular, will be reuniting since the show wrapped up production early last year. And seeing as Dungeons & Dragons quests provide a much different environment than any Game of Thrones episode, it will give viewers a chance to see these actors and actresses in a much different light. "The games I run tend to ridiculous and goofy, which are two words I wouldn't apply to Game of Thronesnecessarily," Welch told Entertainment Weekly.
