Supernatural: 10 Things That Make No Sense About Heaven

Every now and then, there's something within a show that doesn't make the most sense. Sometimes it's something simple or easy to find an explanation to after sifting through the lore but other times, even if there is an answer, audiences are left scratching their heads in confusion.

The world of Supernatural is quite possibly one of the strangest worlds, full of different concepts that leave many fans confused but none as confusing as Supernaturals version of heaven, full of contradictions and strange concepts that add to the confusion. Here are ten things that make no sense about Supernaturals Heaven.

10 Entrance

When imagining someone entering Heaven, people tend to imagine the pearly gates, stretched wide, a chorus of heavenly hosts singing, a band of Angels greeting them through the gates. Usually, one doesn't imagine jumping into a sandbox in order to enter Heaven.

Truth be told, the exact reasoning besides serving as a metaphor for the entrance to Heaven being in a playground, much less a sandbox, is never truly explained. While there are no doubt hints at the reason, it's never fully explained, leaving many confused.

9 Power Source

Now, the world of Supernatural doesn't by any means follow usual lore or information surrounding the ideas they tackle. From their vampires to their version of Hell to even God, this is a world that doesn't play by the same rules of the real world, which can lead to confusion.

For one reason or another, this universe Heaven is powered by Angels, which is strange considering one would think that Heaven would be powered by belief instead and yet it's never really explained why the Angels are the power source.

8 True Form

Normal human beings in any dark fantasy show aren't allowed to see a beings true form for the sole reason that they wouldn't be able to comprehend the image. The worlds of Heaven and Hell are as such, with the possibility being that the Heaven the Winchesters see is simply a manifestation of the real Heaven.

Yet, audiences have yet to see the real Heaven beyond the office style interior that they've been shown, leading to many questions as to if this is the real Heaven or simply a facade.

7 Rules

Everything has rules, guidelines that the citizens or beings of the world or universe must follow or live by. For most of these characters, it's what defines them and controls their power, what sets them apart from the rest, and yet, now and then, the rules can get muddled.

Heaven has many rules and yet many contradictions as well. Every season, the show adds more and more new information to try and expand upon the lore of Heaven and each time, more rules are added, creating more questions than answers.

6 Collapsing

No one expects something immortal to have an end and yet, everything that has a beginning in some worlds must also have an end. Heaven in Supernatural is similar, with the end approaching for heaven as it's slowly losing power. '

This doesn't make the most sense, however, for the sole reason of the fact that Heaven is immortal. It always should be considered to be immortal and if it were to fall, what would that look like? It's questions like these the show fails or refuses to find solutions to.

5 Why It Has A Way To Expel Angels

Let it be said that Supernatural can be very stupid sometimes. This doesn't just apply to the way the Winchesters act or behave, but to the ideas as well, such as the expulsion of the Angels from Heaven by Metatron.

While Metatron's reasoning for the expulsion is somewhat sound, it's strange that they would even have something that would allow anyone to expel the Angels, to bring down Heaven. At the very least, one would expect one or two Angels to find some evidence of this over the past millennia.

4 Power Of Heaven

Very few to no people know the true power of Heaven. While there are certain facts and ideas pointing to its real power in the Bible, the actual power is limited and unknown, making any fictional form of the power strange and inaccurate.

Despite a few uses of the actual power, there are attempts at trying to create an extent, limit, or outlook on Heaven's power, an outlook that shouldn't be explored for the sole purpose of blurring the line between reality and fiction in a way that puzzles many.

3 Layout

Heaven is everything, so is the belief that all believers trust and know. All believers in Heaven know that Heaven is found above, in a place beyond our world. As such, to try and map out Heaven, to create a layout, is complicated.

Even though they give it their best effort, Supernatural tries almost too hard to try and explain the layout of Heaven, how everything connects, where it all lies, and how it works while leaving far too many holes and missing pieces to complete a perfect layout.

2 God Missing

For obvious reasons, there is always a correlation between God and Heaven, with God serving as the ruler and creator of all. Given Supernatural's tendency to turn everything on its head, though, the connection between Heaven and God is different than most, with God missing.

Up until the eleventh season, God's presence remains largely unknown, spawning many questions about him and more specifically, Heaven and how Heaven is able to be self-sufficient or function on its own. Without Chuck, the way Heaven operates doesn't make a lot of sense.

1 The Boss

With God missing, the leadership of Heaven has shifted multiple times, going from the many different angels. Now, this kind of shift in power for something like Heaven should be an organized system and while there may be conflicts, the system should still hold.

However, for one reason or another, the hierarchy of Heaven makes no sense, with strong characters like Castiel or Lucifer taking power to barely even on the power spectrum Angels taking over with no rhyme or reason surrounding the process.
