Bachelorette: Why Clare Crawley’s Ex Benoit Wasn't Included In Premiere

When The Bachelorette premiered on Tuesday, October 13, many fans were confused as to why the preview of Clare's prior appearances on Bachelor Nation shows left out her time on The Bachelor Winter Games. While on Winter Games, Clare fell for former The Bachelorette Canada contestant, Benoît Beauséjour-Savard. The two then got engaged during the reunion episode.

The former couple had quite an interesting relationship while on Winter Games. They fell for each other in the middle of the season and their feelings developed quickly. Benoît proposed to Clare at the reunion in February 2018. Just two months later, the couple announced their split, but said in a joint statement that they will remain great friends and will always care for each other.

Thankfully, Us Weekly cleared the air about the lack of Benoît in the opening intro package. The package did show Clare's stints on The Bachelor season 18, where she finished as Juan Pablo Galavis’ runner-up, and Bachelor in Paradise seasons one and two. Many fans were curious about why the producers left out the 39-year-old's time on Winter Games, since she did get engaged to Benoît in the end. This prompted one of the ABC executives, Rob Mills, to explain. “We didn’t have time for the footage but fun fact: Clare and Benoit are the best of friends! #TheBachelorette," he tweeted during the premiere. Earlier that day, Benoît encouraged his followers to check out the premiere episode, saying, "You might see a familiar French Canadian in it.” Once the episode aired, the 33 year old realized he had been cut from the show, but shared with his fans proof that he did film with Clare. “Well…. This is what you should have seen …just two exes having a fun chat,” he shared on his Instagram stories, along with a photo of the two dated back to March 10, 2020. The image showed Clare and Benoît laughing at a restaurant together in her hometown of Sacramento, California. He also shared a funny picture of him and Clare hanging out while wishing her luck on her journey. Check out the post below:

When news broke that Clare was the next Bachelorette, Benoît was quick to congratulate her. “Hell yeah!! Good Luck on your journey to find love @clarecrawley !! You will be the best,” he shared on his Instagram at the time. The former couple seems to be on good terms, and Benoît only wants the best for his ex-fiance. He completely supports her finding a new man that will better suit her. During the premiere episode, Clare did fall hard for contestant Dale Moss, revealing that she might have just met her future husband. It was no surprise that she later gave her first impression rose to Dale and ended their interaction with a passionate kiss. Rumors have been going around that Clare ditched her season to be with Dale and passed the torch on to Tayshia Adams. Clare revealed in an interview with US Weekly, “How people fall in love and the amount of time that it happens...It’s not for anybody to really decide." It seems Clare did find her husband that night.

Even though Clare and Benoît ended, he seems to be very supportive of Clare and her journey on The Bachelorette.
