MCU: 10 Most Hilarious Memes Of All Time | ScreenRant

For over a decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become the most successful interconnected franchise of all time which all began in 2008 with Iron Man. Following the live-action debut of Tony Stark on the big screen, it was just the beginning of a larger plan that would see the Avengers come together towards the end of Phase 1. Over 10 years later, the MCU has grown to a point where multiple films are coming out every year. Disney Plus will soon become another platform for Marvel that will focus on various characters that have been in supporting roles in the films.

WandaVision will be the first series to kick it off when it arrives on the Disney streaming platform later this year. The MCU has several new franchises coming up, but thanks to 12 years or material, there are plenty of inside jokes and gags that dedicated fans have picked up on and turned into fan-art and memes.

10 The Sad Truth About Quicksilver

If any hero was a victim in Avengers: Age of Ultron, that award goes to Quicksilver. With the introduction of non-mutant versions of Pietro Maximoff and his sister Wanda a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, there was a lot of excitement for the Avengers sequel. But what most fans probably didn’t see coming was Quicksilver’s sudden death.

However, as tragic as his death was, it hasn’t stopped fans from making his sacrifice comical. While Captain America has his mighty shield, Hawkeye essentially had a human one in the form of Pietro. But perhaps the character will reappear in some way through WandaVision.

9 Thor The Ultimate Genius

The events of Thor: Ragnarok was a pivotal one for the God of Thunder as Asgard was destroyed. Thor didn’t exactly have it easy afterward as he headed straight into the final chapter of Phase 3 with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. As tragic as Asgard’s destruction was, it didn’t stop Marvel fans from bringing a little humor into it.

With Hela being obsessed with dominating Asgard and gaining stronger, there’s not a lot she can do if it doesn’t exist anymore. Even though it was a game-changer for Thor and his people, at least Hela didn’t win.

8 Sass-Off

As serious as the Marvel films can be, a core element in almost every movie is the amount of sass that the characters come with. Anyone who loves the Captain America films knows the importance of Steve’s infamous phrase “I could do this all day” as he means business.

Whenever Steve gets that determined, his enemies should be prepared to have to deal with him all day. However, Doctor Strange might out beat him if he slides in and offered to do it for all eternity.

7 The Endgame Aftermath

The conclusion to Phase 3 was a bittersweet one for longtime MCU fans as it was truly the end of an era. Avengers: Endgame was Tony Stark’s swan song as he gave his life to bring use their own Infinity Gauntlet while Black Widow had given her life at Vormir. Phase 3 ended a version of the MCU that will never quite be the same ever again.

But while fans recovered from the events of the fourth Avengers film, Marvel was hilariously already moving on to their next phase. San Diego Comic-Con 2019 was an unforgettable summer for Marvel fans as the studio was promoting all their upcoming films and Disney Plus shows, making it clear that it’s going to be packed.

6 Enter The Aunt May-Verse

One of the superheroes that have had the most amount reboots in a short period of time is Marvel’s beloved web-slinger, Spider-Man. From Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, to Tom Holland, Peter Parker has had 3 franchises with the current one finally being in the MCU. For each reboot that has happened, the actor playing Spidey has only gotten younger and younger.

But that has also, funny enough, been the case for Aunt May with Marisa Tomai being the youngest iteration ever. Imagine how young May might be in the next reboot as well as Peter.

5 An Alternative Civil War

Every year, there are always multiple major Internet sensations that become part of the culture through social media. Whether it’s a viral video, a mood that becomes everyone’s favorite GIF, it never stops. Then there is the case of the infamous dress that had the Internet arguing over and over about.

Some insisted it was white and gold while others were certain that it was black and blue. Given how much Tony and Steve disagreed in previous Marvel films, Captain America: Civil War would have been quite something if the dress had set off the conflict.

4 If Steve Had Gone To Vormir

The biggest takeaway from Vormir, besides the high price that had to be paid to get the soul stone, was the surprising return of Red Skull serving as its keeper.

This was the first time he had been seen since Captain America: The First Avenger. Other Marvel characters got to face him, but not Captain America. It was a wasted opportunity that Steve didn’t get to reunite with his nemesis to have another fight.

3 Loki’s Ultimate Comeback

One of the biggest villains in the MCU is and always will be Loki who has managed to survive time after time, to the point where Tom Hiddleston is getting his Loki own series.

Just when you think that the God of Mischief is no more, it’s another victory for Loki. If Loki was an Internet user, it probably wouldn’t take him long to become a massive troll as he would be in every comment section or arguing on every forum he could find. The scenario that this meme presents seems like something Loki would pull on Nick Fury and Odin.

2 The Battle Of The Box Office

The Marvel films are some of the biggest box office hitters and that was certainly the case for the Avengers movies. For years, Avatar has been the ruling champion of being the highest-grossing film of all time. But Disney and Marvel Studios were determined to change that and sure enough, they succeeded.

The Russo brothers and Marvel were, essentially, Natasha and Steve, from the infamous scene where Cap needs the time-travel plan to work out, by any means necessary.

1 The Sony/Marvel Drama

As much fun and spectacle as Phase 3 had, there was a dark moment when it came to Spider-Man’s place in the MCU. Because this was a collaboration between Marvel/Disney and Sony, there was a point where it looked like Peter’s time in the Avengers franchise was done. After the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, it shook fans all over the world when the deal seemed to be off.

While things did, thankfully, work out, it almost felt like the scene from Spider-Man: Homecoming where Tony essentially grounded Peter by taking his suit. Hopefully, the two studios won’t put their fans through that kind of stress ever again.
