Last week on The Masked Singer, Giraffe was eliminated and revealed himself to be Brian Austin Green. The actor, who also had a short-lived career as a rapper, was married to bombshell Megan Fox for around 10 years, with rumors of their relationship dating back to 2004. So, how did the couple meet and what ultimately led to their split earlier this year?
The couple wed in 2010 and was always one of the hottest to walk the world's red carpets. Fox and Green have three children together: Noah Shannon, Bodhi Ransom, and Journey River. In early 2020, rumors started buzzing that the two had split. The rumor was later confirmed by Green on his podcast ...with Brian Austin Green.
According to Hollywood Life, Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox started dating sometime around 2004. They met on the set of Hope & Faith. At the time, Fox was 18 and Green was 30. Because of the on-and-off nature of their relationship, they did not make things official until their wedding in 2010. After a lengthy engagement, during which they took a brief break, the couple got married in 2010 at the Four Seasons in Hawaii. In 2012, they welcomed their first son, Noah. Two years later, in 2014, they had their second son Bodhi. In 2015, trouble between the two led to their separation. At that time, Fox filed for divorce. Soon, however, the couple found out they were expecting and called off the split. They flew to Hawaii to reconcile and in 2016 they welcomed their third son, Journey. After a few more happy years together, the couple confirmed their split in May 2020. Photos emerged of Megan Fox and rapper and actor Machine Gun Kelly just as her 10-year anniversary with Green was coming up. The day after these photos surfaced, Green shared a cryptic photo and caption on his Instagram that read: "Eventually butterflies get bored sitting on a flower for too long. They start feeling smothered. It’s a great big world and they want to experience it." See the post for yourself below:
Green later addressed the split head-on during an episode of his podcast ...with Brian Austin Green. He was very honest, and touched on several break-up realities, feelings, and fears, saying, "It sucks when life changes and something that you're used to, that you've been doing for 15 years, you try and not get rid of but you change... I really don't want Megan and I to be at odds... she's been my best friend for 15 years and I don't want to lose that." As Green said, his relationship with Fox lasted on-and-off for 15 years. While genuinely opening up about their separation, Green said, “I will always love her. And I know she will always love me and I know as far as a family what we have built is really cool and really special." Sources claimed the couple has taken several breaks throughout their relationship, many of which the public was not aware of. In his podcast, Green went on to address Fox's current romantic relationship. He stated that he trusts her judgment and, although he hasn't met Kelly, he only wishes her happiness.
Green was the most recent celebrity to be eliminated from The Masked Singer. Although he was relieved to be eliminated, he initially joined the show to have fun during the quarantine. It was also likely a welcome distraction after his split from Fox following such a long relationship.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on Fox.
