A new advertisement for Gran Turismo 7 may have accidently leaked the release date for the upcoming driving sim on the PlayStation 5. Gran Turismo 7 was first announced at Sony’s PlayStation 5 showcase earlier this year. Its predecessor, Gran Turismo Sport, was released back in 2017 for the PlayStation 4, and other Gran Turismo titles have released on every PlayStation console made. The long-running franchise has sold more than other AAA hits on the PlayStation, such as God of War and Uncharted, making it one of the most successful franchises under the PlayStation brand.
With the PlayStation 5 releasing later this month, and a four-year gap between games, fans of the series will be eager to know when they will be able to get their hands on the next Gran Turismo installment. Sony has stated that the latest release in the Gran Turismo series will be closer to driving a real car than ever, with the button presses feeling noticeably different between the breaks and the accelerator, incredibly swift loading screens and 3D audio. The developers have promised fans a gameplay experience that will fully immerse players in the world of car racing.
One observant gamer may have spotted more details on the upcoming racing game. Sharing their find on YouTube, GT ELIEANOR highlights the telling snippet of information. In an advert released for Gran Turismo 7, a small notation appears in French in the lower left-hand side of the ad that translates to “Release scheduled for the first half of 2021.” While this information is not specific on an exact release date, it is none the less exciting for fans of the series.
There has still not been anything official announced by developer Polyphony Digital or Sony about the release of Gran Turismo 7, however. Until there is, all leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. Either way, fans do know that Gran Turismo 7 is coming to the PlayStation 5, and hopefully it will not be a much longer wait until more concrete information is revealed by the developer.
The PlayStation 5's release on November 12 is the start of a new generation of gaming. Expectations are high for the console, with a host of new games coming out at launch this month. And, while Gran Turismo 7 is not on this list, it does not sound like it will be long before the racing simulator makes its adrenaline-fueled debut on the next-gen platform.
