RHOSLC: Mary Cosby's Marriage To Step-Grandfather Was 'Arranged'

One of the most polarizing women from Bravo's new franchise, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, is Mary Cosby. After revealing that she married her step-grandfather, she admitted to the marriage being an arrangement.

Fans were introduced to the six all-new housewives when the premiere episode of RHOSLC aired on Wednesday night. Later in the episode, Mary went out to lunch with fellow cast member Whitney Rose. During the confessionals, the other ladies had a few choice words about Mary and her marriage to Robert Cosby Sr.

During the premiere episode of the new series, Mary opened up about her marriage to her husband and former step-grandfather, Robert. "We were kind of a, I would say, an arranged marriage," the reality star admitted. "It was kind of in my grandma's will for us to marry." Rosemary Cosby died in 1997 after suffering a heart attack. Rosemary and Robert married in 1975, and she was 20 years older than her husband. Mary's marriage to Robert was sparked by the late Rosemary, who wanted her husband to be taken care of. She knew if he married one of her grandchildren, they would look out for him. The union seemed to be successful, as Mary and Robert have been married for 21 years and share a teenage son together. Through their union, Mary was able to inherit the title of the First Lady of Rosemary's Faith Temple Pentecostal Church. Besides the church, Mary also inherited an empire of family churches, restaurants, and much more, according to Bustle. It seems Mary's union with her step-grandfather worked out in her favor.

Although their marriage may have worked for them, it caused some friction with the family when it came to the grandmother's fortune. It was reported that in 2007, Mary's aunt, Rosalind Cazares, filed a lawsuit against her and Robert accusing him of mishandling the assets of the estate and stripping her of her mother's fortune. Bustle revealed the estate was awarded $1.2 million, but Robert, along with the church's business manager, was ordered to pay Mary's aunt the money. Even though the couple have been through many ups and downs throughout their marriage, Mary still loves Robert and her "blessed life."

Watch Mary, along with her RHOSLC costars, navigate life in an elite social circle that revolves around religion, beauty, wealth, and perfection. Even though fans are expecting plenty of drama this season, what could be more interesting than a woman marrying her step-grandfather?
