The Mandalorian Season 2 Really Impressed Goosbumps Creator RL Stine

The Mandalorian season 2 has gotten off to a thrilling start, and it's even won the approval of Goosebumps author R.L. Stine. As one of the biggest streaming shows to emerge within the past year, The Mandalorian's sophomore run was always going to be highly-anticipated. The first season won over both die-hard Star Wars fans and those who are less familiar with the intricacies of the franchise, making it the rare project to seemingly please the majority of audiences. The show's simple premise - a lone bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal) vows to protect a powerful young Child (aka, Baby Ydoa) - has likely helped to win over fans.

Already, though, The Mandalorian season 2 has shown signs of going bigger than before. Last week's season premiere, "Chapter 9: The Marshal", saw the titular Mandalorian Din Djarin return to Tatooine with Baby Yoda in tow, leading to him getting caught up in a battle against a fearsome creature known as the krayt dragon. The episode introduced new character Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant) while also featuring a pretty massive reference to the Star Wars films: Boba Fett's armor. Tying things even further to the larger franchise was the apparent return of Fett himself (Temuera Morrison) in the final moments.

Overall, The Mandalorian season 2 was greeted with positive responses from fans, and now the show can add more words of praise to its ever-growing list. R.L. Stine, author of the beloved children's horror series Goosebumps and Fear Street, took to social media to share his brief but positive thoughts about The Mandalorian's season 2 premiere. "Escape to Tatooine. That's my advice. The second season of The Mandalorian is off to a great start," Stine wrote, likely offering an alternative for fans who might be stressed by ongoing news.

A good number of fans would likely agree with him. The Mandalorian's season 2 premiere, while not shifting the overall plot forward much, combined an exciting new character with thrilling action pieces and some movie-worthy visuals. The final shot of Boba Fett might've further enticed Star Wars fans, but even without that, "The Marshal" stood on its own as a thoroughly entertaining piece of television. It'll be exciting to see what comes next when the next episode arrives on Disney+.

The biggest question mark facing The Mandalorian season 2 isn't whether fans will see Din's face again or if Baby Yoda will continue to be cute, but whether the additional references to Star Wars lore will complicate the show too much. In addition to Boba Fett, season 2 is expected to feature Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), one of the fan favorite characters from The Clone Wars. One of the reasons The Mandalorian was so successful in season 1 was because it kept things relatively small; if it goes too big this time, its quality might dip. If the premiere is any indication, though, fans won't have much to worry about.
