Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Adds Blood, According To ESRB

The ESRB information for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade has revealed that the new content in the game will feature blood. The original FF7 had several scenes with blood, even though none of it appeared in FF7 Remake.

In FF7, the scene where Cloud and his friends were captured inside the Shinra Headquarters involved them waking up to find their cell doors open. A bloody path outside of the doors led straight to the tank where Jenova was sealed, which had been torn open. These scenes were filled with blood, but the most memorable incident happened at the end of the game, as Sephiroth is covered in blood when he is defeated by Cloud in their one-on-one duel. The addition of blood was something that the Final Fantasy series had been unable to incorporate during its Nintendo eras, which is why it was able to appear at all during the original PlayStation era. Final Fantasy 8 even opened with a scene where the main character had his face sliced open.

An updated version of FF7 Remake for PS5 will be released in June. The official page for the game on the PlayStation Store is live and it has been rated by the ESRB. The game has the same age rating as FF7 Remake, with one new addition, as Intergrade will feature blood in some as yet unknown capacity.

FF7 Remake Intergrade will have two DLC chapters featuring Yuffie and it's likely that the blood will appear during one of these. Yuffie is joined during these DLC chapters by a new character named Sonon, who is a warrior from Wutai. Sonon never appeared in any other parts of the original Compilation of Final Fantasy 7, so it's possible that he will die during the DLC chapters, giving Yuffie a reason to join Avalanche further down the line.

The other strong possibility for blood is Weiss the Immaculate. It has been revealed that Weiss will fight Cloud in Intergrademost likely as the new boss that is being added to Battle Simulator. It's possible that the conclusion to their fight will involve blood. It's also possible that blood will be retroactively added to the story of FF7 Remake, as the game didn't feature any visceral carnage during its fight scenes. The original FF7 was inconsistent in its use of blood, especially during one of its most famous scenes, so maybe the creators of FF7 Remake are saving it for a special moment, where it will have the most impact.
