The reality series Home Town and its spinoffs belong on every must-watch list, and we're about to explain why. Home Town follows married couple Ben and Erin Napier as they renovate homes in their Laurel, Mississippi hometown. Ben and Erin take on home projects from all types of buyers, from grandparents looking for a new home to young couples buying their first homes. The series premiered in 2016 and is currently airing its fifth season on HGTV.
Even though Home Town has been on for five seasons and has a dedicated, built-in fanbase, new people are still discovering this wholesome design show. Home Town has also just begun to expand its franchise. In 2021, Discovery+ and HGTV added a few new spin-off series. In the coming years, Home Town and the Napier empire may come close to rivaling Chip and Joanna Gaines and the Magnolia empire. Before Ben and Erin are everywhere, people should join the Home Town fandom.
Home Town takes place in Erin and Ben’s hometown, so many of the people that they help are people that they know from around town. It gives the show a unique spin that many HGTV and home renovation shows lack. It makes it feel like every person that they help is the couple's friend or family member. Viewers feel like part of Laurel because the home renovation series has such a cozy and intimate vibe.
The stars of Home Town charm viewers, just like Chip and Joanna and reality TV contractor Jonathan Scott and his brother Drew Scott. Ben and Erin are renowned for their charisma and engaging personalities. Fans get a taste of true Southern charm when they watch the show. Erin is the more serious designer of the pair, while Ben is a little bit goofy. However, he's just as talented and focused. They’re the kind of neighbors that you would love to have. You know that they would always be there to help.
One of the new Home Town spin-off series is called Home Town: Ben’s Workshop. It’s a solo project with Ben. It’s a short program that features episodes of twenty minutes or less. The episodes feature Ben making stuff with various celebrities. They make something and offer details about their lives. The series features musicians, comedians, sports legends, and other celebs. It’s an interesting departure from many "celebrity guest" reality shows because it’s all about woodworking. It’s not the normal and expected sit-down interview. It’s a show where guests get their hands dirty.
The second new Home Town spin-off is Home Town: Takeover. It features Erin and Ben taking over the town of Wetumpka, Alabama. This is different from the normal show because the couple is trying to transform a completely new town. They’re taking on 12 projects, and renovating homes, businesses, and landmarks. The series also features the appearances of other home and design reality stars, including Say Yes to the Dress’s Randy Fenoli, who is a wedding dress trends expert. This small town renovation and takeover is such a cool project. It gains more appeal through the other design stars' appearances. It's a reality TV event, which is sort of like The Avengers for design TV fans.
All the Home Town series can be streamed on Discovery+.
