Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Coming To Switch With A New Power Awakens DLC

A brief segment during the latest Nintendo Direct confirmed that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will come to Nintendo Switch on September 24 alongside the title's A New Power Awakens DLC. Oddly enough, the Nintendo Switch release was hinted at several months ago by none other than publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment.

In March 2021, the Instagram account for Bandai Namco Latin America shared a previously unseen Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot advertisement that boasted Switch's easily recognizable logo at the bottom. The publisher quickly issued a statement concerning the matter, referring to the logo's appearance on the ad as little more than an error. Not too long thereafter, word of a Switch version made the rounds again, courtesy of details shared by leak and rumor group LeakyPanda. It's now clear that Bandai Namco's claims of an error were an effort to preserve the secret for a few months longer.

The Nintendo Direct during E3 2021 featured a slew of noteworthy reveals, one of which included confirmation that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will indeed migrate to Nintendo's hybrid console. Bandai Namco plans to bring the action role-playing title to Switch on September 24, with parts one and two of Kakarot's A New Power Awakens content packaged in. This is undoubtedly a big get for Nintendo Switch owners who may have otherwise missed out on the rather divisive Dragon Ball Z adventure. Still, the game boasts a number of large, explorable areas, complete with stunning visuals and character-driven moments that many a fan of the beloved brand grew to appreciate.

Bandai Namco originally released the role-playing title in early 2020. Within a week of its release, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot managed to move 1.5 million units worldwide. Though it started strong, sales dipped considerably in the following weeks. Roughly eight weeks after it went to market, for instance, the action RPG had only shifted two million copies - a far cry from the two million Dragon Ball FighterZ sold in its first seven days of availability. The forthcoming Nintendo Switch port should prove beneficial in terms of boosting sales.
