One Future MCU Hero Beat All The Avengers At Once | Screen Rant

The X-Men are soon coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and when Rogue joins them, the powerful hero will be one of the few characters who have ever taken down the Avengers singlehandedly. In her action-packed debut appearance in Marvel Comics, Rogue defeated some of the heaviest hitters the superteam has to offer, including Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Vision, and even Thor.

Rogue first appeared in The Avengers: Annual #10 by Chris Claremont, Michael Golden, Armando Gil, and Joe Rosen. Originally introduced as a villain, Rogue possesses the incredible ability to absorb the powers of whoever she physically touches, making her earliest adventures with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and her adopted mother Mystique some of her darkest missions ever. However, before she joined the X-Men and turned into one of the most iconic mutants in comics, Rogue was tasked with taking down the Avengers - and she nearly beat them all by stealing the powers of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

In Avengers Annual #10, Rogue is no match for the superteam, as she picks them off one by one. Firstly, she famously took down Ms. Marvel, whose powers and memories were absorbed, forcing Spider-Woman to save her from drowning. Rogue then uses Ms. Marvel's memories to find Captain America and kisses him, stealing his strength. As Mystique neutralizes Tony Stark in his own Iron Man armor at Stark International, Rogue takes on the Avengers at Avengers Mansion. She throws Spider-Woman against a wall and steals Thor's powers and uses his strength to knock Vision to the ground. Wonder Man comes charging at her, she attempts to steal his powers but can't as she detects they are not human.

While the Avengers would eventually defeat Mystique and the rest of the Brotherhood of Evil, Rogue's attack showed how truly powerful the character was. She defeated Captain America, Ms. Marvel, and Thor, all by herself. Few characters - hero or villain - have ever had such a dominant debut. The storyline would impact Marvel Comics for years, most notably, when Captain Marvel rejected the X-Men's offer to join them due to her animosity towards Rogue.

While the X-Men haven't officially been announced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, their arrival is imminent. Hopefully, when Rogue joins the MCU - whether that's as a villain or hero initially - she's given the massive powers she's always had in the comics, as the previous live-action version of the character felt nerfed. Marvel could even show off Rogue's abilities by recreating her takedown of the Avengers. How fun would that be to see her steal the powers of Marvel's greatest heroes?
