A talented Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has created a treehouse for Marty using custom designs and optical illusions. The Nintendo title has become a popular game for designers to bring to life their island paradises thanks to the customization tools and terraforming available in Animal Crossing.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers different ways for creative players to design their islands to perfection with a range of decorative items, construction tools, and the Custom Designs creator. AC players are able to use the NookPhone's Custom Designs app to make pixel art which can be used in different ways. Custom creations can be used to change the appearance of in-game items, make custom pathways, design clothes, and more. Fans of the game have been making unique and inspiring islands with the available tools since the game's launch, creating everything from spooky optical illusions to a recreation of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's Hyrule.
Redditor and Animal Crossing fan moni_acnh has shown off their incredible building skills with a treehouse built for Marty. Using designs made by KURUMI___ACNH, the player has used multiple Face-Cutout Standee items to give the illusion that Marty's home is sitting on top of a tree. Players looking to create a similar build for their favorite villagers can recreate the look by placing a house on a cliff, and then using designed standees in front of the cliff to give the illusion of a tree. The design continues past the house, with standees imitating the sky and tree branches. Players can find full instructions and design codes from designer KURUMI___ACNH on Twitter, or check out more of moni's creations on Instagram.
Eagle-eyed AC fans will notice the finer details of the impressive build, which even uses blue umbrellas to hide the face holes of the standees used to create the sky and grass. The completed look gives the impression that Marty's house is high up in the sky, and is just one of many optical illusions that can be created using the versatile Face-Cutout Standees. One player is working to pay homage to the works of horror legend Junji Ito in Animal Crossing, using hats designed like eyeballs behind standees to give the illusion of always being watched.
Animal Crossing players have been getting creative to help pass the time until the game's next update. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been criticized for a lack of substantial updates and additional features since its release, with players begging Nintendo for more to do in the game once the core gameplay loop has been completed. A seasonal update bringing firework shows back to AC released on July 27, and while it's not the content players have been asking for, new game updates are on the way. After announcing the seasonal update, Nintendo promised more Animal Crossing content will be coming this year, though further details have yet to be revealed.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch.
