Dark Horse Comics is adapting the Greek mythology-inspired hit game: Immortals Fenyx Rising. Immortals Fenyx Rising: From Great Beginnings will tell the story of the game's protagonist, Fenyx, in an all-ages story. Fans of the game will now have a new way to experience it.
Immortals Fenyx Rising was released towards the end of 2020. The open-world game has been generally well-received. Already it has plans to release three DLC packs, which add new stories and characters to the main game. The story of the game follows Fenyx, a young hero whose brother has been turned to stone. The game's narration is provided by Zeus, the god of thunder, and Prometheus, the Titan responsible for giving fire to humans. Fenyx must save the world by stopping Typhon, a giant who has escaped and attacked the gods of Olympus, rendering them powerless.
Created by the team of Ben Kahn, Georgeo Brooks, and Wes Dzioba, Immortals Fenyx Rising: From Great Beginnings from Dark Horse Comics adapts Ubisoft's hit game into a somewhat new story. Fenyx is still the hero, but her partnerships may be changing. Thus far it hasn't been revealed whether this is a prequel, sequel, or a rewrite of Fenyx's original story. Gods must face their past and unite for the legacy of the future in this Greek-mythology inspired graphic novel based on Ubisoft's video game Immortals Fenyx Rising! When earthquakes hit the hometown of Fenyx, she joins with her mother and Zeus to be saviors together. Dangerous creatures emerge, old flames reignite, and history is one again in the making!
This Dark Horse graphic novel is listed as being appropriate for all ages, beginning with age 10. As seen above, the setting has not been revealed in terms of time. The preliminary setting is Fenyx's hometown. In the game, Fenyx is a member of the Delian League in Greece. Her adventure there begins with a shipwreck on the Golden Isle - the home island of the Greek gods. She is offered the chance to live on the Golden Isle, but nothing says she doesn't ever return home after confronting Typhon. Furthermore, Zeus did not know who Fenyx was at the beginning of the game, so joining up with Zeus would likely mean the comic takes place after the events of the game.
However, it is entirely possible that this graphic novel will be an adventure that is largely unrelated to the original story of the game. It may be a new adventure that stars Fenyx and involves Greek mythology. The past of the Greek gods is full of crazy events, so simply having to "face their past" doesn't say much about what this story will entail. Fenyx is shown with the Wings of Daedalus, which she came into possession of during the game - however, these could be a gift or acquired item from a separate adventure depending on if this is considered canon or simply a new story that just takes inspiration from the game. Either way, it's sure to be fun for fans of the game who want to spend more time with Fenyx and enjoy a new adventure involving Greek mythology.
