Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has shared that Black Adam is entering its final week of filming. After being cast as the slave-turned-superpowered antihero in 2014, Johnson was originally tapped to serve as a villain in 2019's Shazam!, with plans to also appear in an earlier version of Suicide Squad. But given Johnson's superstar stature, his character was ultimately spun-off into a solo film, set 5,000 years after the wrongful imprisonment of the Kahndaq warrior.
Despite Johnson's massive global star power, Black Adam has taken some time to get off the ground. After multiple setbacks and roadblocks, though, the film finally started making progress last year after it was unveiled to be a part of the main DCEU lineup. At that time, the movie was slated to premiere in December 2021, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, DC reshuffled its movie slate and delayed Black Adam until July 2022. In April, Black Adam started filming in Atlanta and in June, Johnson announced that they were approaching the end of production. Now, the former WWE superstar has shared another update on the movie's production status.
On Saturday, Dwayne Johnson shared a post to Instagram, indicating that he is now headed into the final week of production for Black Adam. Thanking fans for their love and support, Johnson reminisced over the hard work, preparation, and training he had put into the movie over these last two years, and now the journey is finally coming to an end during the next massively important week. He also offered a look at his diet, a healthy breakfast that he has included in his routine to better prep for his character.

With Black Adam so close to wrapping up production, anticipation continues to grow surrounding Johnson's superhero debut. Audiences aren't just excited to see him, though - they are equally anticipating the debut of the Justice Society of America in the forthcoming Jaume Collett-Serra-directed project. As announced previously, Black Adam will include Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate - four superheroes who will fight alongside Adam to seek justice and truth. Black Adam also features Sarah Shahi as Adrianna, and Marwan Kenzari as a villain, with Mo Amer, Uli Latukefu, and James Cusati-Moyer attached to appear in mystery roles.
Even though Black Adam will complete shooting this month, enthusiastic fans shouldn't expect an official look at the movie until later this year. Once filming concludes, the movie will need to spend some time in post-production to get the VFX right and, after that, DC will likely prioritize marketing for The Batman and League of Super-Pets as those films bow before Black Adam. Right now, there is a full year before the Dwayne Johnson-starrer launches in cinemas and typically WB and DC don't start promoting tentpoles until eight months before they premiere. According to that timeline, audiences will probably get a proper teaser or trailer for Black Adam by the end of this year.
