After Tom Bergeron's exit from Dancing With The Stars, supermodel Tyra Banks took over as the show's host; however, reports say Tyra's time on the show may come to an end after just two seasons. Tyra has conquered a lot throughout her career. She made history as a model by becoming the first Black model to appear on a Sports Illustrated cover. She also brought her big personality down the Victoria's Secret runway, to her own talk show titled The Tyra Banks Show and on her own reality competition show America's Next Top Model. However, the model has received her fair share of criticism throughout her time in the spotlight, especially in recent years.
DWTS host Tyra has been under fire since the beginning of 2020, when old clips from ANTM began resurfacing online. The clips revealed Tyra's poor treatment of the models and some awful things she and the judges said to the contestants, such as body shaming or diminishing their experiences. The Tyra backlash continued throughout DWTS season 30. Fans were angry with Tyra all season long, accusing her of talking over contestants, embarrassing Suni Lee when she was sick and standing in front of Olivia Jade when she was eliminated instead of allowing her to have her final moment on the show's stage. By the end of DWTS season 30, fans were begging producers to replace Tyra.
Now it seems their prayers may be answered as rumors say Tyra might be leaving the show before DWTS season 31. The U.S. Sun reported that production staff is uncertain if Tyra will return as host next season. While fans took their disdain for Tyra to social media all season long, it's not confirmed if their pleading is the reason for Tyra's possible exit from the show. ABC bosses are not happy with the show's recent ratings, and their main priority is to cast a major star to draw in a larger audience.
The anonymous source claimed that bosses are looking for "at least one or ideally two major household names that fascinate fans." The heads of the broadcasting company are reportedly hoping to find someone for DWTS with a few accolades under their belt as they're aiming to cast "an Oscar, Emmy or Grammy-winning star, who will make headlines on and off-screen." Tyra recently angered fans during the finale of DWTS when she announced that Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach won the Mirrorball Trophy. Viewers complained that Tyra took too long to announce the winners' names.
Whether or not the social media tirades against Tyra have anything to do with her possible replacement, fans will be happy to hear that she may not be returning, though some of the criticism against her may seem a little harsh. For example, Tyra was called out for her theme night costumes being too "extra" when she was just trying to have fun and get into the spirit. However, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and hopefully, whatever Dancing With The Stars decides to do, it will work in everyone's favor.
