Competitors include those from North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East, along with one finalist from a special Last Chance Qualifier event at the Ignite Gaming Lounge in Skokie, Illinois on March 7th.
According to a Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition press release earlier today, Final Kombat 2020 will give fans a special sneak preview of the upcoming Spawn official gameplay trailer, which will showcase how the undead avenger will be brought to life in Mortal Kombat 11. The event will also feature a guest appearance by Spawn’s voice actor, the legendary Keith David, as well as Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, Shang Tsung voice actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, and NetherRealm Studios Creative Director and Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon. Other content reveals and on-site activities include a Red Band Trailer for the upcoming animated film Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, a first look at the new Mortal Kombat 11 action figures by McFarlane Toys, a special Spawn-themed photobooth, and a range of Mortal Kombat 11 merchandise by Rooster Teeth. Check out the trailer for the event below, which Mortal Kombat YouTube's official account recently posted:
Spawn was announced as a guest character for Mortal Kombat 11 last May, as part of the game's Kombat Pack DLC alongside the aforementioned Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, T-800 Terminator, and DC Comics' The Joker. The character is set for a March 17th release date, with Keith David reprising his role from the cult 1997 animated series on HBO. As a former marine, Al Simmons was killed in a setup during a dangerous black-ops mission by one of his squadmates and was later revived by the demon Malebolgia to serve as his personal assassin on Earth. Now the undead entity Spawn, Simmons uses a demonic cape, wicked chains, and a symbiote-like costume to seek revenge on the people who sent him to his early grave.
With the looming addition of Spawn to the gaming roster, the upcoming Final Kombat 2020 event, a new animated movie on its way to home video and a live-action Mortal Kombat film reboot set to hit silver screens next year, this is certainly an exciting time for Mortal Kombat fans. Mortal Kombat 11 has proven to be a hit on the pro-gaming circuit, giving eSports players and spectators alike a chance to share their love for this iconic franchise and take a look at the things to come. Tickets for Final Kombat 2020 are now available to order online, and the event will be live-streamed on Twitch, YouTube, Mixer, Twitter, Facebook, and Steam on March 7th-8th.
