Killing Eve: AMC Working To Resume Filming After Production Delayed

Filming on Killing Eve season 4 has been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, although AMC is working diligently on finding a solution to move forward. As one of the most prized BBC America shows, keeping Killing Eve on a regular production schedule is vital. It has not been immune from the effects of COVID-19, however, although this particular program is faced with unique challenges caused by its own specific circumstances.

Killing Eve is constantly jumping to different European cities, both in front of and behind the camera. The ever-changing film locations add a sense of scope and importance to the stories the show is trying to tell. It also creates a show that's aesthetically pleasing, firmly authentic in the roots it plants across the continent. Failing to film in locations like Barcelona and Bucharest would take away an important element of the show and one of its biggest draws.

With the global health crisis raging, it should come as little surprise that filming on the show can't go forward right now. According to Deadline, filming on Killing Eve season 4 has been delayed, largely because many European nations are difficult to film in at this time. It's also worth noting that some countries require foreigners to quarantine for days or weeks upon entering their nation, which could cause significant delays to tight shooting schedules. AMC provided a statement to Comicbook regarding the delay, explaining they're "developing a number of strategies in hopes of moving forward with the production." They also reassured fans the show hasn't been delayed "indefinitely."

The entertainment industry has been tasked with finding an infinite number of creative solutions necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic. Overcoming the laws of countries will be a challenge, though, unless the show decides to just stick to one country/city for filming for season 4. Additionally, the show would need to find a way to bring star Sandra Oh to Europe at a time when global borders are closing on the United States, which is struggling to contain the coronavirus.

Killing Eve has followed a consistent schedule for its first three seasons: it films in the summer and fall, premieres in April, and concludes its run in May. In the unusual circumstances brought on by the world pandemic, following that schedule for a 2021 premiere would require a miracle. COVID-19 isn't the only issue the show needs to deal with, but it will be the most critical one in determining whether Killing Eve sees its fourth season debut in the spring of 2021.
