Andrea Edwards and Lamar Jackson are still going strong, despite their many differences. The Life After Lockup couple is currently adjusting to life in Los Angeles after relocating their family from Utah to California. But despite how much they work together, there's still one area where they disagree.
Andrea and Lamar made their WeTV premiere in season two of Love After Lockup. The couple met through a prison penpal program while Lamar was serving out his 18-year prison sentence. The pair fell in love despite the distance and their different lifestyles. Lamar was incarcerated following a life of crime as a LA gangbanger, while Andrea lived in Utah with her three children and focused on her close relationship with the Mormon church. Following Lamar's 2018 release from prison, the two got married and tried living in Utah, but Lamar struggled with the slow-paced lifestyle. After a family vote, the family made the decision to move further out west.
Andrea and Lamar's difference in religion has and continues to be a big problem for the couple. In season three of Life After Lockup, fans watched as Lamar struggled with deciding to attend their daughter's baptism in the backyard pool. During an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, Andrea opened up about her desire for Lamar to get more involved in her church life. "For me, sometimes I'm lonely at church," Andrea revealed. "I see married couples there, and I wish my husband was there with me. I wear my ring, and I say I'm married. Sometimes they might not believe it" she added.
The couple has both worked to compromise for the other. But Andrea shared how much she "would love for Lamar to come to church with me twice a month." However, Lamar has his own faith and spiritual beliefs and doesn't feel the need for church. "I'm not a go-to church type," Lamar explained. "I have my own routine and connection." The LA native remains hopeful that their religious beliefs won't affect their marriage. "I'm not Christian, but it's her religion," Lamar shared. "It won't affect our relationship," he added.
Though he was a bit reluctant to attend Priscilla's baptism, Lamar ultimately decided to go following a motivational talk with Andrea's son, Tennison. At times, Andrea disagrees with Lamar's choices and his family's way of life due to her religious practices. But it looks like the couple's compromising is working in their favor.
