Assassin's Creed Valhalla Missing Achievements On PC, Dev Says They're Coming

Gamers playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on PC are missing out on all of the game's achievements, but the developer has assured fans that they are coming. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla had a phenomenal debut on the Xbox Series X/S last week. The number of online players for Valhalla's release vastly surpassed that of its predecessor, and Ubisoft expects that number to keep rising as more gaming platforms become available across the globe.

But despite its epic player numbers, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has experienced a mixed release overall. Many have praised the game for its return to form, with stealth being more of a focus than previous titles in the Assassin’s series. However, it has also been riddled with glitches and bugs, which includes one particular bug which forces players to reinstall the game in order to progress further. Another issue that has also become apparent since the launch of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the lack of achievements on the PC version of the game. This has naturally upset a lot of fans, as part of the joy of the gaming experience for many is the achievements earned along the way.

For those disgruntled by this apparent oversight, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After petitions were made, an extensive Reddit list was documented and a vast discussion on an Ubisoft forum was published, the developer says that achievements will be coming to the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in the future. VG247 confirmed this announcement with a statement from a Ubisoft representative saying, “We are aware that achievements are not available for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players on PC – this was unintended. We are actively working to enable achievements and will keep you updated when more information is available”.

This declaration from the developer does contradict the one that went before. Ubisoft originally told PC gamers that the lack of achievements for their version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was intentional, and that instead it had expanded the challenges within new games on Ubisoft Connect. This has since been passed off as a simple misunderstanding, with the developer admitting that it had believed that achievements had been discontinued - something that ended up not being true.

Despite all of this confusion, Ubisoft does appear to be taking all feedback it receives with regards to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on board. In addition to bringing the achievements back to the PC version of the game, Ubisoft is also planning to remove some ableist language from an in-game character description with a future update, after it was met with criticism on Twitter. Hopefully all the future updates will make the most recent trip into the beloved franchise one that will cement Assassin's Creed Valhalla's place as one of the best titles in the series.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
