For 15 seasons, Sister Wives has been giving insights into the polygamous Brown family with Kody Brown as the patriarch. In the family are four wives Meri, Christine, Janelle, and Robyn as well as 18 children and a couple of grandchildren. Since the start of the show, fans have long suspected that Kody Brown has a favorite wife, and that he has treated some of the Sister Wives better than others. Here are times that Kody Brown was playing favorites among the wives.
When Sister Wives first started, Kody had three wives who had all figured out how to live together in the polygamous relationship for years. So when Kody decided he wanted a fourth wife, there was trouble. Many fans believe that Kody's newest wife, Robyn, is his favorite and gets special treatment from him. Kody had a schedule of when he would spend time with each of the wives and his many kids. But when Robyn entered the picture, that time was obviously cut down with the other wives, leading to a lot of jealousy.
Even before Robyn and Kody Brown were married, it seemed that Kody wanted to spend most of his time with Robyn. He chose to leave a then-pregnant Christine and drive four hours away just to "court" Robyn, with one fan adding "it seems like he is only romantic with her now." In one video (included below), Christine tearfully admitted how she felt hurt when Kody kissed Robyn after they got engaged, saying she and Kody did not even kiss until she walked down the altar. Christine seemed to have a hard time transitioning to four wives, especially because "he dropped all his other kids and wives for [Robyn], left poor Christine with all the kids and a newborn."
Another show of favoritism came when Kody asked Meri if they could divorce so he could legally marry Robyn. Meri and Kody had been married for 24 years and Kody wanted to be able to adopt Robyn's children. In order to do so, he needed to be officially married under Utah law. This was another telling sign that Kody was willing to strain his marriage with his first wife and risk it for his newfound love. One fan commented in a Reddit thread that "it seems very obvious that Kody spends an inordinate amount of time with Robyn and her family," making her the favorite.
Once Robyn and Kody married, the wives compared their weddings, with Meri and Robyn being the two with the grandest ceremony and reception of the four. Some fans believe that Kody is most attracted to Robyn, with one saying "Robyn was the first wife he felt true romantic love for," but "that's not to say he doesn't love the other three, he just loves them differently." Fans are very divided on the favorite, with some arguing that in recent seasons Robyn has gone out of favor, and one arguing Janelle is the favorite because he seems to respect her the most. Let's hope there will be more entertaining drama to come once Sister Wives season 16 gets the greenlight.
